What’s happened to the Maggianos of 5-8  years back? Food has gone down hill, portions are not what they used to be, and service in Costa Mesa is attrocious.  Haven’t been there in three years because it’s just not the same.  Really poor for the prices.

I am a new customer at Maggiano’s.  I visited in mid-October.  I was very pleased with the meal, the portion size and the dessert was delicious.  Even better, my guest and I walked away with Lasagna for the next day!  I can’t wait to go back.

  • darlene

I have never been disappointed in Maggiano’s.  I am anxious to try the new Holiday menu soon!

Been to the San Jose, Ca restaraunt twice and had excellent experiences. If I didn’t live so far away I’d go more often.

I miss the old Classic Pasta menu, which had an option of gnocchi.  Loved the gnocchi with the parm cream sauce, and loved gettng on to bring home for the next day.  The new bowtie pasta dish on th Classics menu is DELICIOUS!  I recommend it!

Love the Maggiano’s in Wauwatosa, WI. Food is amazing and so is the service!

I’m new to Maggiano’s and I love it here in Beachwood, Ohio. The food is delicious, the service excellent, and I have been back 6 times in the past Month! Can’t wait to try the new Holiday menu!

  • Not happy

We went to one here in Denver and had the same experience. We ordered what we usually do for four people, and usually would have leftovers. This visit, there was not enough to share.

  • Jacqueline Connor

I am so dissapointed. :( Went to Maggiano’s in Tampa last night for our wedding anniversary) and my husband and I are sooooo upset!  we use to love Maggiano’s and have not been in a while, so for our anniversary we so excited to go.  The service was terrible our server was acctually bitching how she was not making any money. My husband and I could not believe her attitude.  Needless to say she didn’t make any money from us either.  Not to mention when I asked for more cheese for my Maggiano’s salad, she said “that;s going to be extra are you sure you want it?” her tone was  negative and sarcastic and my husband and I did not appreciate it.  In this day and age customer service should be number one.  People don’t eat out as often as they use to, so when they choose to, people go with what they know they can expect.  We will have to go somewhere else next year for our anniversay.
    Thank you Jacqueline Connor

Had dinner at the South Coast Plaza Restaurant last Saturday.  Miss the linguine with pesto and pine nuts.  Great service and food.

the office went to Maggiano’s in St. Louis, MO located on Brentwood Blvd….our waiter’s name was Isaac & he made the experience wonderful!! he was well educated on the menu along with recommending the best entree!!! Anytime I plan to visit I will call ahead to make sure he is working. Isaac you are the best!!!!!!

  • Bob98fl

I to am disadpointed in the portions and prices. Service to has changed. Have always used them often but am going to try another place.

  • Jankaplan115

Everyone needs to go the Skokie, IL Maggiano’s!!  Mike and Jolene have been the bartenders there since day one of that store opening 17 years ago . .  as that’s how long I’ve been coming back.  Their impeccable service, to knowledge of wine and spirits, to knowing just the right dish to recommend is what makes this Maggiano’s outstanding.

  • Food lover

I have had ONLY great experiences at Maggianos.  We go to the one at Cumberland mall in Marietta GA.  The food is superb and the wait staff has been wonderful.  So sorry to hear that others have experienced so many negatives.  This must say something about the particular manager(s).  One afternoon I wanted my favorite, Rigatoni D, and just commented that I did not see enough carmalized onions.  That’s all, it was, just a comment.  Within a few minutes the Chef himself came out and presented me with a freshly made dish loaded with carmalized onions.  I was stunned.  He told me to keep both dishes and as usual we went home with lots of leftovers.   We travel a lot and have never been disappointed when dining at Maggianos.

  • C H Nelson

We have eaten at the Bellevue, WA Maggiano’s at least once a month for the past several years.  I can’t recall ever having a negative experience.  The food is significantly more tasty, more original,  and of higher quality than most other  Italian restaurants in the Greater Seattle  area, and the service has always been respectful and professional without being pretentious. We took my persnickety mother-in-law from another state  there last week and she absolutely loved the place.  She even  insisted on picking up the tab!  Tturnover appears very low, and the employees  obviously like working there.

  • Teena

I love Maggianos!!!!! I have been there on multiple occasions and have never had meal or service. We love our St Louis locations. Paulie our server is the greatest!!!!!!!

  • Teena

That is a bad meal or bad service.

  • Maryderner

My family of 4 went to Maggiano’s last Saturday night. We got there fairly early 4:45pm and the service started out pretty good, but ended up poorly. We used a coupon, but it didn’t go through the first time and our second bottle of wine wasn’t even cool. Guess the wait staff did not expect us to order so much food and desserts and coffee. We still tipped really well, but I guess the best time to go out to Maggiano’s is between 2-4pm.

I’m from Northern California were all we had was Olive Garden…Yuck!!! I have since moved to Texas where I found Maggiano’s. What a relief to find North Beach(San Francisco) quality Italian food in Texas!! The food and service was great and plan on making the 40 minute drive to eat there on a regular basis.

  • Alstack

Have gone to Maggianos several times. We are a family of 7 and always get the family style meal. Always GREAT food and wonderful staff at the Tyson’s, VA and Chevy Chase, MD locations. My kids all look forward to meals there.

Not sure what Maggiano’s the latest commentors went to but my experience at West End store in Nashville on Thanksgiving 2011 exceeded my expectations.  Service was great, especially noting that every table in the house was full.  We did not feel rushed, received good value for the option and the server was fantastic.  And just like eating at home, we had leftovers in the refrigerator…only I didn’t have to do the dishes!!

Ok, after reading the rest of the comments, I have to admit, my wife and I with some friends recently visted Maggiano’s in Nashville and found that we also thought it was lacking from what it used to be. Initially, I thought maybe my memory thought it was better than it was, however based on the below comments, maybe not.

Regardless, I HAVE TO SAY that showing customers videos likes this is awesome. Online learning like this (like http://www.khanacademy.org) is the future.

As an experienced cook, the plate looks great. Now its up to Maggianos to deliver it like this consistantly to the customers.

Our Wauwatosa, Wi  Maggiano restaurant is wonderful.  Everyone is so nice, the food is always perfect & portions are overly generous.  All the servers go out of their way & are always pleasant.  There’s just something about walking through their door that makes a person relax instantly, like coming home!  It takes a fantastic manager to pull a staff together to make everyone feel special & pampered.  They will also honor cooking requests & lighten any recipe on their menu.  That’s service!   Back soon Maggiano’s!!!

  • GINA

We love Magianno’s been to the one in Sarasota, Fl on vacation and we always to the one by Macy’s in Woodland Hills,  the food is delicous and good serving,  I have only had one bad server and I told the mgr,  no problem.  I have no idea what these people are complaining about,

  • foodwarrior

I agree the food is not as good. I loved the eggplant parmesan and would order it frequently. The portion was ample, and I always had enough to take home. Then, the restaurant began to halve the portion and serve it over a bland order of spaghetti. They gave you a frozen order of pasta to take home. Once thawed and reheated, I found the take-home pasta inferior and tasteless. Bring back the old portion and ditch the frozen take-home meal.

  • Guest

We have eaten at the Bellevue, WA Maggiano’s and have had great food and great service.  We were so pleased with the quality of the food and the ample servings that we had them cater our daughter’s wedding reception for 350 people (off site.)  They did an excellent job!  We have recommended them to several friends and as a result our son-in-law’s parents have made a decision to have a rehearsal dinner there in June for another of their children.  Kudos to Maggiano’s in Bellevue, WA.

  • Carole

My brother-in-laws family has been in the restaurant business for years.  Cardinal rule they drilled into us was never to eat out on holidays.  Staffs and kitchens are overworked then.  I have always had a pleasant experience with the Maggiano’s in Oak Brook, IL and the one in the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas.  My sister praised the one in Scottsdale Ariz.  I think the general manager sets the tone.  We’ve always had friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable wait-staff.  That’s why we continue to go back.  I’ve never left without a doggy bag.  Guess location is a factor and competition keeps these restaurants bringing their A game. Happy Eating.

  • Kris P

My husband and I went to dinner at Denver Tech location where we have always had excellent service and exceptional food during the past 4 years.  As if things couldn’t get better, I have to say this was our best experience yet.  Our server, Maggie was utterly personable and knowledgeable and made a superior recommendation for wine.  Since we commented that the “cinnamon whipped cream” on a dessert sounded so good, she brought us some to put on our cappuccino’s which we had with after dinner drinks.  It was so wonderful!  And our Chef’s Special Lobster dish which we have had many times including a number of other Maggiano’s as we travel across the US frequently, was just the best ever!!!  And I even had the opportunity the thank the chef.  Your chef that evening was on his game!  As it was a belated birthday dinner for me, I was so grateful for an exceptional meal and superior service.  Although we often frequent Maggiano’s for casual meals, I always celebrate my birthday at a Maggiano’s. I have only been disappointed once at the Tyson’s Corner, Virginia location and the management graciously resolved that problem.  Maggiano’s consistently delivers great food and excellent service!  Thank you and we look forward to frequently Maggiano’s for years to come.

  • Denise

We have always had the best experiences at various Maggiano locations around Chicago.  The food portions are generous, the wait staff has been both attentive and very patient as we make our choices, and there are always plenty of leftovers.  It is the place where we celebrate all of our family events because it feels so much like home.  We continue to be great fans of Maggianos and will sing its praises whenever we have the chance!

  • BGirl

I really can’t understand how anyone can say the price isn’t amazing or that the portions are too small. Unless you are binge eating, the meals are HUGE and a VERY fair price. Especially if you get the classic pasta & take one home… it’s cheaper than fast food. The food is amazing – the waiters are sometimes awesome – sometimes crappy.  The food is always great.

  • ELDRIDGE

I have to say, Maggiano’s has always been consistent for us. We’ve always enjoyed the Bellevue, WA  location and now that we live in Scottsdale, we frequent there.  Where can you go and get white linen servic and great prices along with fantastic food?  I make my reservations online and always have a special request for booth in a quiet area.  Without having to say anything, we arrive and are seated according to our request.  I give then five stars!  You just can’t beat them for a chain.

  • Tonymastro

IN ITALY WE CALL PEOPLE WHO ARE NEVER HAPY WITH THE PORTION OR QUALITY ///MORTI DI FAME/// AT MAGGIANO  IN PERIMETER MALL AND MANY OTHERS …THERE IS WAY TO MUCH FOOD …GOOD QUALITY  AND TASTY …AS FOR LEFT OVER …….COME ON ..YOU WANT TO EAT FOR 3 EXTRA DAYS FOR ONE PRICE MEAL..ALSO THERE CAN ALWAYS BE A BAD DAY   ..IF YOU SMART ..TELL THE MANAGER AND THINGS WILL IMPROVE….AND TO FINISH ..WHAT IN THE HELL YOU GO TO AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT ON THANKS GIVING????????????

TURKEY RESTAURANTS IS WHERE YOU SHOULD GO ….YOU TURKEY  FULL OF STUFFING….

  • Karen Guastavino

Happy everytime I know I am going Maggiano’s!  I  work as a nurse.  I am Italian  and cooking must be in my blood.  I cook most of the time. So, I am picky about eating out.  Maggiano’s far surpasses my cullinary knowledge even though I can make a variety of dishes.  It is obvious they are professionally trained cooks.  They work very hard and I know about working hard! The restaurant is a well oiled drum that functions well from the bus boy/girls to the top chef.  I bet the people that complain are all on various medications for anxiety!  About their service!  There are people taking your order, and people filling your water and people clearing the table!!!  How much service does a person need!! It hurts my feelings to hear people complain about Maggiano’s!

  • Janice

Maggianos is not what it used to be.   My favorite dish (Mushroom Ravioli Al forno) was removed from the menu.  Maggiano salad is now skimping on ingredients (blue cheese and dressing).  The veal parm is excellent, when that changes or is removed from the menu like my other favorite I will not return to Maggiano.

  • Sarge

Well, nothing is what they used to be as we all know. I haven’t visited Maggianos’s yet. I was thinking of visitng the place during the holidays but if all I read is bad reports I’ll have to find another place to eat when I visit the area.

  • Mrsallen1

We ate at the Troy, MI Maggiano’s for the first time about 6 weeks ago.  We will definitely be going back!  Our server was phenomenal – he spent a lot of time with us since we were “newbies.”  The food was very good and we had more than enough food to eat that day and the next.

  • Nezir Sitton

    I,lovr Maggiano’nos

  • Angie

I too have never been disappointmented at Maggiano’s (Oakbrook Terrace, IL.).  I fight myself to stay away from there because it is so easy to overdose on the kindness and efficiency of the staff, the delicious and over portioned food and the best Apple Martini ever.  Keep up the great work and I think I will come to try the holiday meals.  The Shrimp and Crab Imperial sounds delicious.

  • Anonymous

I can’t imagine what these people are talking about. We go to the Maggiano’s in Tampa,Jacksonville & Orlando Fl, and also the one in Bellevue Wa. when visiting our daughter. We always do family style and have always received great service, good food, and plenty of take home items. We have never had any complaints about the Tampa restaurant. We are about 2 hours away from all of the Fl locations and would never turn down a chance to go.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Carolyn-English/100002712871690 Carolyn English

NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL OR SERVICE AT MAGGIANO’S, WESTSORE MALL, TAMPA.  SERVERS ALWAYS FRIENDLY. SERVING PORTIONS TOO BIG.  ALWAYS HAVE TAKE HOME.

  • Ina

ll you had to do was talk to the manager.  This has been a great favorite restaurant from Florida to Chicago to Scottsdale.  Give it another try and discuss your previous complaint with the manager upon arrival.

  • Rio Brewster

We had Thanksgiving at the Austin Maggiano’s and thought it was wonderful.  The turkey and ham were actually our least favorite part of the meal, just because the dishes they usually serve were soooo good.

We’ve been here several times and have always left saying “We should come here more often.”

  • Eviestune

My husband and I have had great experiences in the past, at Maggiano’s with good food and excellent service.
That changed when we went to the one in Fairfax. Virginia on Thanksgiving Day.  My family from GA. and VA, joined us, to make a party of 9.  We were not served enough food for our group and so
had to request more,  By the time it arrived it was hardly warm.  We were very disappoined.  Hardly any leftovers to take home.  At the cost of $39.00 per, we made a big mistake!

  • rick

Maggiano’s continues to be a stalwart of great Italian food.  The prices are reasonable and the portions are massive.  The food quality continues to impress.  We go for special events,  dinners with friends and family and take out for parties at home.  Keep changing the menu options at all will be well.

  • Kathi

Heading to the King of Prussia restaurant tonite where I’m meeting some old friends.  Last time there, we had great food and quite enough, for sure.  Portions were big enough that we even took food home.  Looking forward to tonite to sample one of the Holiday specials.

  • Bill Leonard

I have been to Maggiano’s at least 4 times a month in San Jose Ca., Not only is the food very excellent, their drinks are also! Their Hostess is very good as I always get a booth when requested! I have yet to have a bad server and am never rushed!!
    Bill Leonard

  • Lzarosi

I love it!  The food isn’t always consistent but most of the time, its wonderful.  I love their gnocchi, Rigatoni D, Baked rigatoni and chopped salad!

  • Beth D.

Given that we’ve had nothing but amazing experiences at Maggiano’s, it’s baffling to me to read so many negative comments.  The food portions are huge.  The food is amazing.  We’ve always had outstanding service.  The ambience is elegant while also being warm and cozy – a great place for a date night when your date is happiest in his favorite pair of Levi 501′s…and I still get my nice dinner out – the best of both worlds.  Of the major Italian chain restaurants, we sincerely believe Maggiano’s is the very best food for an amazingly good price.  Thank you.  Keep up the good work!

  • Judie Houle

We enjoy Maggianos in the Topanga Canyon area.  The food is good, plenty and the service excellent.  I hope it continues.  Merry Christmas everyone.

  • basstringerfish

Well I’m taking 18 – 20 of my managers and support staff Monday Dec. 12 to the Tampa location. My wife and I are eating there this Saturday. I just hope my experience is on the positive side. I chose this restaurant because of positive experiences in Denver, Scottsdale (several times) and Seattle. That’s my expectation…

  • Sharon

I ordered Christmas Eve Dinner from Maggiano’s Tampa last year.  It was superb!!!!!
I don’t see it listed on website this year.  Any info on this?

  • Krisbfit

I have always had excellent food and service at Maggiano’s in Richmond, VA.  The portions are huge and the flavor is fantastic.  I always have to make reservations so that I don’t have to wait two hours to be seated.  My waiters consistently make great wine selections to compliment the food.  Well done, Richmond!  We’ll keep coming back

  • marianne giglio

we had our son wedding rehersal at Maggianos, and the people and the food was grate.
we had the best time. would have more party there.

I cannot believe the negative comments! I frequent the King of Prussia, PA restaurant and am always more than pleased with the food and the service. Staff is friendly, eager to please, and happy to make adjustments to menu items to accommodate likes, dislikes, allergies, etc. Each visit becomes a special occasion. Special kudos to Steve Olsen for running a delightful restaurant.

  • Quetha2001

I took my first visit to Maggianos about 4 years ago and I have to say i love it I always have a great experince when I go. i frequently visit the Atlanta, ga Perimeter location more then often , I have visited the Buckhead on and I have to agree with a few people that location is very rushed and not to freindly and the portions are always not worth the money , so I make the perimeter location my number 1 and I bring guest there alot with me and have celebrataeed my birthday there I will suggest the Perimeter atlanta location to all my friends

  • Quetha2001

I bagree the perimeter location is the same very friendly and aware of taking care of customers needs and desires I recomend this resturant to alot of people, the portionsare great and filling.

  • asha hassan

I’m not sure about the Maggianos in other states, but the Maggianos in California are Great. My favorite one is at Farmer’s Market. The food is always wonderful, and the service is great. The portions are great, and there’s always food to take home. Love It !

  • BRYANTCHRISTINE97

I THOUGHT THE FOOD WAS GREAT,SERVICE WAS GREAT, PRICES WERE REASONABLE..THE ATMOSPHERE WAS NICE,CLEAN, EVERYONE VERY FRIENDLY, I CONSIDER THAT MY FAVORITE RESAURANTS KNOW.

  • Jeff

I’m really happy to read this comment as I have been thinking of going to Maggiano’s in Beachwood, Ohio for some time now.  I think the time has come to give it a try.

  • Kayboo

I love Maggianos. Never been disapointed.  How could anyone complain about portion sizes? And the extras entrees we get to take home!Service is superb.  Some people love to complain. And a lot of people obviously like to overeat.

  • Michelle

I really wish they would bring back the mushroom ravioli with pesto sauce!!!  It was my favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ted moore

I took my family to the Jacksonville Fl one and we had 19 people, service was excelent and so was the food, the waiter and asst waitress we had was the first time working on Thanksgiving and they had other tables with 12 or more people at them, they took care of all of us like we were a table of two!  Food was delicious and the expirience was stellar.  I have frequented the Jacksonville, Orlando,  Boca Raton, and Marrieta ATL and never had a bad expirience, Totally our favorite chain rest

  • val

love the entrees but really dislike the bread and side salad. The bread is too chewy and sort of hard. The house salad only had lettuce, which had some brown edges on it,  2 tomatoes and 1 olive. No cucumbers, carrotts, peppers, etc..

Need to step it up regarding the bread and salad

  • Kkreutz

Wauwatosa,Wisconsin was the location of our meal at Maggianos..huge portions, plus a take home meal. We had the dinner for two. $39.95. We each got a salad of our choice,an entree of our choice, and a fabulous dessert. The take home meals were also of our choice. Hubby is having rigatoni and I am having ravioli for tonight’s dinner at home.
The waiter was extremely patient with us.
    Yummy…will definitely go back

  • Mike

Just ate at Maggianos in Nashville yesterday. Very disappointed. I have had better tasting pasta from a box at Walmart’s frozen section. Everything tastes preportioned frozen and just heated up. Minimal flavor.
